Photography and music
As a photographer I'm usually assigned to cover music festivals in many cities of different countries, that includes the fact of traveling as a part of my job.
I'm also a musician (kind of an old rocker) and that means again the flying part for the performances with my band.
Photography and music are differents things, but they are similar in some facts, for example the tripping side of the job, all the time running from one place to the other (and always carring lots of equipment) for finally doing what we really like.
This reminds me an interview with Marlon Brando, in wich referring to his work as an actor and the long waiting times between each scene he said:
"The acting part is easy, actually I think they just pay me for the waiting part "
In addition to the trips I must jump among festival's crowd, climb towers or get up to cranes and helicopters to get the best shots.
That is not all because afterwards I also have to work many hours with the computer, this is a common thing on photographers nowadays with digital photography.
Nevertheless, like happens in music, it doesn't matter what is the extra work we have to do,
in the end it's worth when we get to the magic moment where we do what we really love.
Taking the camera, looking throught the lens and star with the process of capturing the beauty of the image we see, or hanging my bass (is my instrument), test the power of sound and feeling the public at the beginning of every show.
I think photographers and musicians do what we do for the same reason,
jusy because we love it.
Thanks God for giving me the priviledge of being able to do all that I love, with limitations and mistakes, but with passion though.
